Last week, I was in my dad’s hometown and I met up with my cousin, who’s currently working as a salesperson in a pharmacy. She has a nursing degree, but failed the board exams, so right now, she cannot practice what she was trained to do. She was hoping she could enter a review center to help her prepare for the next board exams, so right now, she was trying to earn enough money to sustain that.If I was her, I would consider being a medical assistant. With her knowledge in the medicine and health care, I am sure she would make a good medical assistant. I think that she would be good at trying for classes online and especially in medical assistant courses. She does something similar at her current job working at a nursing home. This probably would be good since she would be able to be at home and taking her classes when she is able to especially since she works a full time job. She would also be able to get her Medical Assistant Certificate within 6 to 8 weeks. She would learn things such as medical terminology, patient communication, medical billing and insurance claims and other things required for the course. Since she would be doing this online, she could also do her medical clinical labs right from her computer. My cousin is about to sit for her SPM examination. When I met her at a dinner recently, she told me that she has not decided what she wanted to do after her SPM exam. Going to university to further her studies is out of the question for her as she is not prepared to spend the next 3-4 years studying. She’s not the academic type of person but she loves meeting and interacting with people and has strong communication skills. She had gone for interviews to be an air stewardess twice but didn’t qualify. I was watching the first few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 5 recently and it just reminded me of how much I thought I had my dreams on being a medical surgeon all set.Yup.. once upon a time, that was what I thought. How many TV shows do you watch per day? Apart from reality shows, most of the medical related TV series are definitely in my list. In fact I was once a fan of Chicago Hope and I would never miss an episode, where I’d be glued to the TV screen for the next one hour, well, which was supposed to be 45 mins show. It’s not because I intended to apply for medical assistant school watching this show, but don’t you just think the doctors and nurses are just so good looking and super caring people?!! Then, along came ER, which was a hit, Grey’s Anatomy and other series. This time not only the doctors and medical assistant was a bunch of gorgeous actors, but also the patients! Ha ha ha… Well, those were my younger years when they were full of fantasies he he he… ;D

Anyway, on a serious note, these kinds of stories are in reality full of lessons to learn in life especially the different approaches of another human being treat and try to save other human being’s life spice up with deep emotions and the everyday life they gone through. It’s an eye opener for people who are seriously thinking of being a doctor, medical assistant or work their hours in the emergency room and hospital.

I saw the news the other night about the OFW or Overseas Filipino Worker coming home from Taiwan because the electronic factory that they were working for closed down and they do not have a choice but to come home empty handed and they have to pay for their own plane ticket. It is so hard to see that the economic around the world keeps getting worst. I hope it would be better these coming days in time for the Christmas season for the family to be able to celebrate. Anyway, the government is offering some training for the OFW so they can move on and have a better job in the future. When I was a kid, I had a cancer. Though it was not really severe and now my cancer has gone but I really remember my torture. Due to my experience in the past, I really want to be a medical assistant and give something back to the medical community. Dreaming Of A Medical Profession

Did you ever think of pursuing a different course when you were still in college? On my part, I never thought that I would took up an engineering course since I always wanted to be part of media, art and a lot of social activities. But nevertheless, my engineering course is something I am most proud of. Just imagine surviving your five year college life with all math and science subjects not to mention other major subjects too. Honestly, I am always fascinated of medical courses. I remember when I was younger, I always say that I’ll become a doctor, a surgeon actually. But after learning that I need to spend more than eight years, I decided not to pursue it.

Now I am glad that there are medical assistant schools that we can choose from.I remember my husband-to-be during our early years of courtship enrolled for a medical assistant course for additional skills.
